“The Lord has promised good to me.” What does that
mean? David Jeremiah said: “God is good. The more I studied this word in the
Bible, the more one central concept seemed to jump out: God’s goodness conveys
His generosity. His goodness means far more than His generosity, but it
certainly includes His infinitely generous attitude toward us. By nature, He
longs to bring joy and blessing to all His creatures.”
Our source to do good for others comes from being made in
the image of God. God created in us a desire to help others. Jeremiah continued:
“Think about the greatest pleasure you’ve ever felt in doing something for
somebody else; multiply it by billions, that is the heart of God in heaven.”
Studylight.org, Gill’s Exposition of the Whole Bible: “He
[God] is essentially, infinitely, perfectly, immutably, and solely good in Himself;
and He is communicatively and diffusively good to others: He is the author of
all good.”
“The Lord has promised good to me.” This I believe
and this I know. There will always be sunshine and rain, but our God is with us
and brings us through all that we experience. There is always a ray of HOPE
that sits in your heart and brings you good. You may be familiar with this
Psalm: “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the
goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13
Clarence L. Haynes, Jr wrote: “The Bible says God is good
for one simple reason – it is true!” The Bible repeatedly presents goodness
as a core quality of our Lord. Believe it. Trust it. Live by it.
Keep this in your heart at all times. God is good. God is
good to us. We can be good to others.
